A group of six young volunteers from Armenia, Turkey, Bulgaria and Morocco joined a group volunteering project under the “European Solidarity Corps” program, implemented by the BRCK Association in the village of Mindya. The project combined practical activities, training and cultural exchange, emphasizing the active participation and cooperation of young people.
As part of the initiative, participants engaged in the creation and renovation of wooden benches and tables, using both new and recycled materials. Part of the activities involved giving new life to old furniture, a process that not only improves the environment but also promotes sustainable thinking and responsible use of resources.
In parallel with the practical work, the volunteers received training on the topic of “zero footprint”. During the discussions, they looked at concrete ways to reduce environmental impact and the role of young people in building more sustainable communities.
A substantial part of the project developed in the Mindya Community space,
where, in addition to the daily work, the volunteers also contributed to the creation of the new website mindya-community.org – a platform that will present the initiatives and life of the community.
Intercultural exchange was also a key element of the program. Participants organized an event where they presented their traditions, cuisine and cultures, creating an environment for sharing and getting to know each other.
As part of the experience, the group also took a trip to Irakli, where they spent time camping in nature. These moments outside of the work environment contributed to team bonding and created unforgettable memories.
The project showed how young people from different countries can work together, learn from each other and create real results – both in the community and among themselves.
