E-volution Media

E-volution Media is a youth media platform of the BRCK Association, developed with the participation of volunteers under the European Solidarity Corps. It combines video, music, online radio, interviews, articles, stories, cultural content and work with local communities. The idea of the platform is to give space to young people, volunteers, artists, travelers, active citizens and independent voices who are looking for meaningful ways to tell about the world around them.

E-volution Media emerged as a natural extension of the work of the BRCK in the field of youth, volunteering, culture, international exchange and non-formal education. The platform is not just a website for publishing news. It is a place for creating content, experimenting with media formats and building practical skills in young people – from the first idea to the finished material.

At the heart of E-volution Media is the understanding that media can be a tool for learning, participation and connecting people. Volunteers not only film, edit or write texts, but also learn to ask questions, listen, observe, seek a point of view and understand the context in which a story takes place. This turns the platform into an environment for developing media literacy, critical thinking, communication skills and teamwork.

E-volution Media and the European Solidarity Corps

E-volution Media is closely linked to the participation of international volunteers in the European Solidarity Corps. Through the project, young people from different countries come to Bulgaria, get involved in the activities of the Bulgarian Solidarity Corps and create media content related to culture, local communities, European themes, volunteering, music, art, social issues and youth participation.

For volunteers, the platform is an opportunity to develop specific skills in a real environment. They participate in the preparation of videos, interviews, articles, photo stories, publications for social networks, online radio content and short documentary formats. Their work includes planning, research, filming, working with sound, camera, editing, writing, translating, editing, visual design and publishing.

This process is important not only as a technical training, but also as a personal and intercultural experience. Volunteers meet people from different communities, participate in local events, travel, talk, observe and gradually build their own view of Bulgaria and Europe. The videos and publications they create often reflect this meeting between personal experience, the local environment and broader European themes.

What content does E-volution Media create

The platform develops different types of content that complement each other. Some of them are related to specific projects and volunteer activities, while others go beyond the framework of a single project and present cultural, social and creative themes.

Video content is one of the main directions. Volunteers create short reports, interviews, videos of events, stories from local communities, documentary fragments and visual materials related to culture, society and youth topics. This includes both official events and more informal meetings, conversations and observations from everyday life.

Interviews are an important part of the platform. They give volunteers the opportunity to talk to representatives of local institutions, artists, active citizens, young people, project participants, volunteers, residents of small towns and people with interesting personal stories. Through these conversations, E-volution Media seeks a human perspective on topics such as identity, culture, memory, freedom, solidarity, community and participation.

Articles and publications complement the video content. They present projects, events, cultural topics, youth activities, travels, festivals, public issues and personal observations. The texts can be both informative and more editorial — with more perspective, atmosphere and context.

Stories are a separate line in the platform. They give space to volunteers, young people and participants in various initiatives to tell about their experiences — how they got into a given project, what they learned, what changed them, which places and people impressed them. This format is important because it shows volunteering and international exchange not as abstract programs, but as real experiences.

Music and online radio are another important part of E-volution Media’s identity. The platform is interested in alternative music, independent scene, reggae, dub, electronica, fusion, ambient, chill out and other genres that often remain outside the mainstream media flow. Through music selections, playlists, radio formats and publications, E-volution Media seeks a connection between sound, culture, mood and community.

Alternative culture and an independent point of view

E-volution Media does not strive to be a standard institutional media. Its strength lies in a freer, alternative and human approach to topics. The platform is interested in culture outside the center – from small scenes, local initiatives, volunteer spaces, youth movements, independent artists, social cial causes, music subcultures, travel, festivals, extreme sports, natural places and communities that create meaning through their own efforts.

This alternative view does not mean chaos or lack of professionalism. On the contrary, E-volution Media seeks quality content, but not sterile institutional language. Authenticity, atmosphere, personal contact and the ability to see history where there is often no official stage or much media attention are important.

The platform gives young people the opportunity to experiment with form, style and expression. Some of the content can be more documentary, some more musical, and some more personal or visual. What these formats have in common is the desire to create meaningful content that connects people, places and ideas.

Connection with local communities

An important part of E-volution Media is field work. The platform does not exist only online. It is connected to real places and people — Veliko Tarnovo, Mindya, local cultural events, volunteer initiatives, youth meetings, public talks and international activities.

Through its content, E-volution Media shows that small communities also have stories, culture and potential. This is especially important for the work of the BRCK in the village of Mindya and the region, where media activities are intertwined with volunteering, ecology, local culture, community events and projects such as Mindya Community and Mindya Post.

In this sense, the platform is also a bridge between different initiatives of the organization. It can cover events from the Mindya Community, present volunteers under the European Solidarity Corps, publish materials about youth exchanges under Erasmus+, show cultural and environmental activities, as well as create videos that do not fit into the narrower concept of other sites, but are part of the overall work of the BRCK.

Topics and areas

E-volution Media works with a wide range of topics, but several areas are particularly important:

  • Youth participation and volunteering – stories about young people who participate in projects, travel, learn, work in teams, create content and get involved in community activities.
  • Culture and local environment – events, traditions, festivals, community centers, independent cultural spaces, artists, musicians and people who maintain cultural life outside large centers.
  • European themes and values - videos and articles related to solidarity, freedom, democracy, equality, intercultural dialogue, European identity and the participation of young people in public life.
  • Media and digital content – practical work on video, photography, sound, editing, online publications, social networks and creating a visual identity.
  • Music and subcultures – selections, playlists, online radio, independent scene, alternative genres and musical stories.
  • Ecology and sustainability – activities related to nature, small settlements, ecological thinking, sustainable development and volunteering.
  • Travel and intercultural experience — personal stories from volunteers and participants, encounters with different cultures, journeys, local impressions and new perspectives.

Practical training through media work

One of the most important functions of E-volution Media is training. Volunteers and young people do not just receive ready-made tasks, but go through a complete process of content creation. This includes choosing a topic, researching, planning an interview, preparing questions, organizing photos, working with a camera and sound, filming on location, selecting material, editing, writing accompanying text, publishing and distributing.

This process builds not only technical skills, but also responsibility for the content. Participants learn how to present people correctly, how to work with different perspectives, how to avoid clichés and how to seek a balance between personal style and respect for the topic.

For many volunteers, this is their first real opportunity to work with media content in a public environment. They see the results of their work online, receive feedback, work as a team and develop confidence that they can create meaningful materials.

Why E-volution Media is important for BRCK

For BRCK Association, E-volution Media is more than a project activity. It is a tool for visibility, participation and development. Through it, the organization can show its work in a more lively and accessible way, give a voice to volunteers and create an archive of stories, events and initiatives.

The platform also helps to build partnerships. It shows how BRCK works with young people, what topics it develops, what skills it builds and how it combines European programs with concrete work in local communities. This makes it useful for both future volunteers and partner organizations, institutions, youth centers, community centers, cultural spaces and informal groups.

E-volution Media also allows BRCK to go beyond the purely administrative presentation of projects. Instead of the project being described only with goals, activities and results, the platform shows the people, the atmosphere, the moments and the process behind it. This makes the work more understandable and
