Association “Dreaming of Romance, Flowers and Space” — BRCK has many years of experience in organizing cultural, youth, environmental and community events. Our work in this direction combines a creative program, work with volunteers, partnerships with local institutions and organizations, technical training, communication with participants and creating an environment in which people are not just an audience, but an active part of what is happening.
Over the years, BRCC has organized and supported various formats — festivals, concerts, competitions, creative workshops, flash mobs, happenings, environmental actions, youth campaigns, interest clubs, competitions, meetings and public initiatives. For us, an event has meaning when it connects people, ideas and places, and does not remain only within the framework of a program and a stage.
Summer Event Festival — Karandila
One of the most recognizable formats related to the activities of the Bulgarian Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is the Summer Event Festival, which was held in the Karandila area above Sliven in the period 2013–2018. The festival brought together young people, artists, musicians, volunteers and the audience in the mountains, in an environment that combined stage, nature, free communication and creative experience.
Summer Event was conceived as a space for contemporary forms of art, music, alternative culture, ecology and proximity to nature. Bulgarian and foreign groups and artists took part on stage, and the program included concerts, creative workshops, outdoor activities, a tent camp, a community kitchen, meeting areas and various forms of informal participation.
The festival became a place where culture was not separated from the environment in which it takes place. The mountain, the camp, the workshops, the volunteers and the audience were part of the overall experience. In some editions, the festival was also implemented in partnership with the Municipality of Sliven, which enabled the initiative to develop as a recognizable cultural event for the city and the region.
Events in Mindya
In recent years, the BRCK has also been actively working in the village of Mindya, where events are related to the local community, culture, nature, volunteering and the participation of young people. Among these initiatives are “Mindya Sings”, Mindya Open Air, activities around “Mindya Post”, environmental actions, community meetings, family games, cultural events and events that give people from the village and the region the opportunity to meet, participate and create together.
The “Mindya Sings” competition is an example of an event that emphasizes young talents and the local scene. It provides an opportunity for participants from the region to perform and combines a cultural program with a sense of community and belonging.
Mindya Open Air develops the idea of a small cultural and musical format in a rural environment, related to volunteer activities, youth projects and community life. Such events show that cultural initiatives do not have to be limited to big cities – they can have a strong impact in small towns too, when they are done with attention to people and place.
Youth, cultural and environmental formats
The experience of the BRCK also includes many smaller but important events and initiatives – concerts, flash mobs, happenings, environmental actions, orienteering competitions, board game clubs, youth campaigns and public events. Among them are formats such as “It’s Modern to Be Green” in Sliven, which connect youth participation, environmental culture and public space.
These events are often aimed at the active inclusion of participants. Instead of just attending, young people can help in the organization, participate in the preparation, create content, lead workshops, take pictures, communicate with the audience, work with technology or offer their own ideas.
Organizational and technical capacity
BRCK has experience not only in the substantive preparation of events, but also in their practical implementation – planning, coordination, technical support, sound, work with volunteers, communication with partners, program preparation, publicity, media coverage and field work.
Through the activities of E-volution Media, the organization can also support events through filming, interviews, video content, publications and visual presentation. This allows events not to end on the day of their holding, but to remain visible through photos, videos, articles and online communication.
Our approach
For BRCK, organizing events is not just about logistics. It is a way to create an environment – for meetings, conversations, ideas, culture, volunteering and participation. We work with the understanding that a good event must have a clear idea, a human atmosphere and a real connection with the place where it takes place.
Whether it’s a festival in the mountains, a concert in a small village, an environmental campaign, a youth competition, a public discussion, or a community meeting, our goal is the same — to connect people through meaningful experiences and create spaces where participation matters.
